Season Record

SMV 14-1
1st Place Finish
Gold Division
SMV Spring Tournament
April 14-16 NLQ article 9th place finish!!:
The Northern Lights Qualifier was an incredible tournament for our 14-1
team. We finished 9th place over all in an 80 team pool, beating a Front
Range team from Colorado, for a chance to go to the Gold Brackets.
(Incidentally this was the best finish for our club in the tournament's
history!) Our team learned about playing as a team, about teamwork, how
to stick to the game plan, the energy and passion to keep striving for
the top. We also learned defeat, and how even losing close games
mattered for points, and percentages. Overall it was a great tournament
filled with lots of volleyball memories, Maui Wauwi's and coaches
dressing up to inspire victory.
SMV Tourney Hands out GOLD MEDALS IN UPPER DIVISION TO SMV 14-1
SMV 14-1's took home the Gold medal at the SMV tournament May 20 in the
upper bracket, beating their season rival, Mizuno Northern Lights 14-2
in 2 games, complementing a perfect match record of 9-0 record for the
weekend. The team easily coasted by Wabasha Kellogg and Stewie 14 Blue
to go into the championship match against Northern Lights 14-2. Our
hitting, consistent passing, and good serving gave us the victories all
weekend long. We even had opportunities to try players in different
spots to prepare for AAU. We also played without two of our starters,
Sarah Morton, who was injured, and Ashley Hinsch, unavailable for the
day.
This tournament has us energized now for AAU, in Orlando Florida, where
we will take our 60-9 record to compete against teams across the nation.
We hope to bring it all, and also have fun!
